Labuan International Sea Challenge 2007 – Opening Ceremony April 30, 2007

I might represent Labuan in a 10 a side rugby league between Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. Wish me luck!

Labuan International Sea Challenge 2007 officially launched by Labuan Parliament’s Member, Dato Suhaili Abdul Rahman last night at Labuan Sea Sport Complex. I missed the opening speech by Dato, since I wasn’t aware of the event schedule. However, the dinner function was attended by all 30 team that comes for the IGFA Rolex Deep Sea Challenge 2007, emerged from Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, West Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore and one team from Labuan. All participants will leave the Waterrfont marina tomorrow morning, approximately around 8.30 am. I’ll be there to snap some photos for my readers.

The only veteran joining this year IGFA Rolex Deep Sea Challenge, an 80 year old uncle.

After the launching ceremony, guests were entertained by sets of performance ranging from traditional dance, band and artists performance.

The dancers are the members of Kelab Kebudayaan Perbadanan Labuan (Culture Club, Labuan Corporation), performed few sets of traditional dance that hailed from Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak.

After the traditional dance, guests and crowds were entertained by Sabahan artist; Abu Bakar Ellah, Velvet and Felix, both were the contestant in Akademi Fantasia 3rd Season.

The first to sang last night. He sang a Malay song (Joget Pantun Melayu) that he personally translated, and presented the cincai song to foreigners. He translated Bersama-sama as Together-gether, and repeated it like more than 5 times. He performed another song as well, which obviously telling the world he got problems with Malay and English pronounciation. And he thinks interfering other singer performance is cool and funny….NOT!

The second performer last night, Velvet. Performed a few songs and delivered it excellently. I shot like 40 pictures of her, simply because the stage light was helpful. Oh, anyway, she said “This song POPULATED by Whitney Houston”. Lol!!! And she sweat a lot someone (guest) gave her a tissue.

The last performer, and the least to talk in between his songs. In simple English, no interaction with the crowd and guests. Anyway, it was raining during his turn, and I had a major problems of taking his pictures (under such situation).

Dato Suhaili was interviewed by the local radio station about his opinion on the organizing of such activities (referring to the Labuan International Sea Challenge) at the entrance of Marine Museum, Labuan Sea Sport Complex.

Tomorrow morning, I will be at the Waterfront Marina to capture some photos of the boats( 30 of it – locally and internationally) which predicted to be departed approximately around 8.30 am. See you there!

Labuan Sea Sport Challenge 2007 – Team preparation April 30, 2007

I went to Labuan Sea Sport Complex yesterday, to have a final look and figuring the best point to take pictures of the event. There will be a music performance by few Akademi Fantasia student tonight at the Complex. And so I’ve figured the best point to take pictures of the guests and peoples that will come to the dinner function tonight.

Back to the topic, few teams were sighted to practice with each other, and I must say it’s not a tight and stressful practice. Everyone’s enjoying their time. Here are the photos.
