LISC 2007 – Closing Ceremony May 19, 2007

The Labuan International Sea Challenge 2007 closing ceremony witnessed the launch of new slogan for Labuan Island; “Labuan, Pearl of Borneo” by the Federal Territory Minister, YB Dato’ Zulhasnan Rafique, in attendance of Labuan Parliament Member, YB Dato’Suhaili Abd Rahman. You may ask why this island downgraded to Pearl of Borneo, when we used to be Pearl Of South China Sea. It’s simple. As for me, to put it as Pearl of Borneo, Labuan will be more specific and targeted for more exposure on tourism industry. Besides, what makes Borneo greater than South China Sea is because of the tourism industry and greater exposure to the world, and I believe it will make Labuan as one of the destination for tourist when they come to Sabah or Sarawak (or Brunei perhaps).

The ceremony started with the price giving for the winner of IGFA Rolex Labuan Deep Sea Challenge 2007 [Qualifying Event] and Labuan-Brunei International Extreme Kayak Challenge. In his speech, Dato’ Suhaili voices out his appreciation towards the Labuan peoples, contestant and those involved in this year main event in Labuan calendar, the Labuan International Sea Challenge.

After the speeches from the VIPs, and rain pouring down on our head (mind you the open stage was built on the beach, not in close environment) the show started with some cultural dance performed by whoever-they-were.

The show continues with 4 guest artist; Lotter from Akademi Fantasia 4, Ezlynn (last time she performed on the same stage, with fishnet socks and skin-matching tight where everyone thought she was wearing nothing under the tight mini skirt), Ziana Zain, Jalil Hamid (this guy still alive?), Salleh Yaakob and Jeffry Din.

The crowd (mainly ‘tourists without legal papers’) heating the scene, with the natural aromatic and foreign language that worth to learn if you’re into construction business, maid, agriculture and simply hang out at Labuan Supermarket on Sunday morning. No pun intended, but I simply believe we’re moving towards huge population and promising business opportunities for the cheap labor and culture adaptation.

The night ended with the fireworks launched from the sea (from the ship of course) and it marked the end of this year Labuan International Sea Challenge. We’ll meet again next year, with hopes that it will bring more exposure and tourists and income and hot chicks and more opportunities to snap photos and present it to you.

Wow Jeffry Din! It’s been a while since I last saw him. At least get to “see” him over here. 😀

You really enjoyed yourself there, ar Saiful. So many events, so much photos to take! xD

Well, he’s been invited like every year to come to Labuan.

Yeah, I took 2,226 photos, most of them are crap! and some of them are beauties..

Anyway, me and gf got sunburn, but I’m totally satisfied now because I dont have to touch all the LISC pictures again. The editing, enhancing and all process kills me for the past couple of weeks.

Thanks for enjoying the pics. We (me & gf la) really appreciate it. 🙂
