Canopy Walkway, Poring. July 17, 2007

Filed under: KK Invasion — saifulrizan @ 12:47 am

I am not an athlete, nor a wildlife lover, but when I know there’s hanging bridge like 200 meters from the Poring lower ground, I challenged myself to climb the hill and bring my trusted camera and tripod there. Ok, one advice for any newbie out there. There’s no use of tripod above the canopy walkway, so don’t bother bringing one!

One more thing is, I was wearing jeans when I decided to head up the hill, and climbing a stairs with inconsistent height, my thigh got sore and I did stop for breath two to three times. Wear something loose before you do something that requires maximum use of your muscle (if any), so if you’re sweating like a pig, it won’t be so obvious!

After 20 minutes of climbing, I reached the station where the starting point located. I took another rest before going for my first time walking across the canopy walkway in my life. I don’t see it hard, but without a good balance, or peoples crossing the walkway with you jumping or behaving like monkey, you might want to tell God how much you appreciate your life and you still want to live!

There’s a rule everyone should know, because it’s serious.

Sabah Parks Enactment No. 7 Of 1996 Section 48 (1)(a)

Strictly prohibited to cut, fell, damage, remove, injure (write / scratch / carve), destroy or set fire to any tree or protected plant in a Park.

Any person who contravenes any provision of the above shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to imprisonment for three years and to a fine of one hundred thousand ringgit (RM 100,000.00)

There are three checkpoints to pass before heading back to the starting point with the same canopy walkway. The other 2 checkpoints were in construction, and that best explain why we have to walk on the same walkway back and forth.

With few tourists taking their 30 minutes break on each checkpoint, I wouldn’t waste much time but walk back to the starting point and go to the next stop – Kipungit Waterfall!!– google_ad_client = “pub-5475124221491357”; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 60; google_ad_format = “468x60_as”; google_ad_type = “text”; google_ad_channel = “”; //–>
